Courtney Richard Volleyball Scholarship

The Courtney Richard Volleyball Scholarship has been a cornerstone of SYA Volleyball since 2003, reflecting our commitment to supporting the educational journeys of our dedicated athletes. This annual award provides financial assistance to a high school graduate pursuing higher education. Each year, SYA Volleyball grants one scholarship to a deserving student to help with the costs of their chosen school, ensuring that their hard work on and off the court is recognized and rewarded.

Courtney Richard

This scholarship honors the memory of Courtney Richard, a talented volleyball player who began her journey with SYA Volleyball and excelled as a setter at Chantilly High School. Courtney’s life was tragically cut short in June 2004 due to viral meningitis, just as she was making her mark in the sport. In 2005, SYA Volleyball renamed the scholarship in her honor, celebrating her passion for the game and her impact on the community. This tribute reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering young talent and preserving Courtney’s legacy.
