    SYA Scholarship & Financial Aid

    SYA is proud to offer scholarships for participants in all recreational sports who meet the qualifications under the Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services program.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for a scholarship, participants must:

    • Reside in Fairfax County or Fairfax City.
    • Be enrolled in a Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) school (kindergarten through grade 12).
    • Receive specific types of county, state, or federal assistance.

    How to Apply

    Step 1

    Register for SYA Sports

    • Click this button to Register on our registration page.
    • In the payment section, select “Apply for Financial Aid” as your payment option.

    Step 2

    Complete the Scholarship Application

    • Click this link access and complete the scholarship application
    • Submit your completed application two weeks before the first scheduled practice of the sport. You can submit your application by:

      Drop-off:
      Locked box outside the SYA office, 5950 Centreville Crest Ln, Centreville, VA (sealed envelope).

      All applications are confidential and reviewed by the SYA Scholarship Committee. You will receive the decision via email.

    Important Notes

    • Approved applicants must pay a minimum registration fee of $75.00 for any sport (Travel sports have different requirements, which will be communicated if applicable).
    • If you do not qualify for a Fairfax County scholarship but need additional financial assistance, you may apply for aid through SYA using the Financial Aid Addendum.
    • Please ensure that all required information is submitted for each season and sport.
