SYA Travel Baseball

Formed in the early 2000s, the Mets have grown into a regionally recognized organization connected to SYA Sports and SYA Little League. In partnership with SYA Little League, the Mets field teams from 8u through 13u levels. There is no 14u for Fall 2026. The program is overseen by an SYA Travel Baseball Board, operating under SYA Diamond Sports.

When does the season start?

Spring: March.

Fall: August​.

When does the season end?

Spring: Late May.

Fall: Early November.

When do practices start?

Spring: January.
Fall: August.

How many times per week are practices?

Practices are typically held twice a week, but may be up to 4 times, which includes games.

Where will the games be?

Games will be held at fields like Patriot Park North and various SYA Diamond Sports locations throughout the DC Area.

Are there evaluations/tryouts? When?

We plan to support teams from 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, along with 13u on the 90′ diamond. There will be no mandatory house play for the 13u teams in the spring.

Current SYA Mets players should attend one of the sessions while you are not guaranteed a team slot, while those who are trying to be newly selected should try to attend both sessions to give the coaches more time to evaluate you as a player. Only requirement is that you do attend one session.

Will all participants make the team?

No, participation is limited to select players who demonstrate advanced skills and dedication.

Is there a picture day?

No.

What are the registration dates for all SYA sports?

When do I get my child’s schedule?

Approximately two weeks before the start of the season.

• 8U through 12U for Little League teams.
• 13u and 14U teams are coordinated with the SYA Diamond Sports

The system accepts Visa or MasterCard & online checks (your registration is not FINAL until your check payment is received). You may pay your registration fees, summer skills camp fees, and make donations during online registration. You may register multiple players online as well and receive a multiple player discount.

• Baseball glove
• Baseball bat (must meet Babe Ruth League regulations linked below)
• Batting helmet
• Cleats (plastic/rubber, no metal cleats on turf fields like Patriot Park North)
• Catcher’s gear (teams may provide a set)
• Baseball pants, socks, and belt
• Protective cup (mandatory for all players)
• Water bottle

Are there equipment rentals?

No.

Where do I get equipment?

SYA recommends Dick’s Sporting Goods or Amazon.

Are uniforms/jerseys provided?

Yes, jerseys are provided.

Decisions on FIELD and GYM status are generally made by 3:30pm each day Monday-Friday and by 7am on Saturday and Sunday 

Ultimately, you should be notified by your coach about decisions.  If you have not been notified by your coach, you should assume that play is on

This Fairfax County free public service will alert coaches and parents to school closings due to weather or other emergency situations via e-mail or cell phone.

Refund Policy:

• Recreational Season/Camp/Clinic Refunds: Requests for refunds must be made in writing and received prior to the roster distribution meeting (coaches meeting) or the first regularly scheduled game that the registrant’s team plays, whichever occurs first. The registration fee will be refunded minus $35 administrative fees prior to that date. No fees will be returned after that time

Players must reside within SYA Little League boundaries for 12U and under, and SYA Babe Ruth boundaries for 13U and 14U.
