SYA Track & Field is open to boys and girls ages 4-18. The program focuses on developing running, jumping, and throwing skills through regular practices and weekend competitions. All skill levels are welcome, with no tryouts required. Registration for Spring 2025 ends April 27, 2025.
Parent and high school athletes’ participation is encouraged and essential for training, officiating and miscellaneous competition requirements. When the whole community participates, we’re #Bettertogether !

Age Divisions:
Age divisions 4-8 are allowed to compete in a maximum of 3 events, including relays.
Age divisions 9-18 are allowed a maximum of 4 events including relays.
Most events contested at indoor meets are: 1500m and 3000m race walk; 55m, 200m, 400m sprints; 55m and 200m hurdles; 800m; 1600m (mile) and 3000m runs; 4 X 200m and 4 X 400m relays.
Field events contested are: shot put, long jump, and high jump.
Outdoor events contested are similar, but run the 100m instead of the 55m; the 80m, 100m, and 110m hurdles instead of the 55m hurdles; and the 4 X 100m instead of the 4 X 200m relay. Turbo-javelin and discus are added to the field events.
Families will receive a $15 multi-child discount.

The system accepts Visa or MasterCard & online checks (your registration is not FINAL until your check payment is received). You may pay your registration fees, and make donations during online registration. You may register multiple players online as well and receive a multiple player discount.

Please check on field status if it has rained in the last 48 hours.
Decisions on field status are generally made by 3:30pm each day Monday-Friday and by 7am on Saturday and Sunday.

This Fairfax County free public service will alert coaches and parents to school closings due to weather or other emergency situations via e-mail or cell phone.
There is an out-of-county fee, if applicable, of $50.

Fairfax County issues permits to SYA to use facilities in the Centreville/Clifton area. Typically a team will practice at the same facility each week with varying locations for weekend games.
Notification of schedules/locations/times will be sent out 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the season (as determined by when we receive permits).
