Season League Info/Program Overview

When does the season start?

  • Spring Season for Tackle: January 11th
  • Spring Season for Tag: TBD (but a few weeks after Tackle)
  • Summer Season for Tag and Tackle: June
  • Fall Season for Tackle: Late August

Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Where will the games be?

Games are held on Saturdays and will take place in Springfield, Alexandria, Leesburg, Culpeper, and DC.

Tackle teams for older age groups might play in regional championships in Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

Travel costs (car, hotel, food, etc.) are the parents’ responsibility, but assistance may be available. The club covers entry fees for travel matches.

Are there tryouts/evaluations? When?

No, all are welcome!

Fees

Families will receive a $15 multi-child discount.

Acceptable Payments Options

The system accepts Visa or MasterCard & online checks (your registration is not FINAL until your check payment is received). You may pay your registration fees, and make donations during online registration. You may register multiple players online as well and receive a multiple player discount.

Rules and Policies

Refund Policy

  • Rugby abides by the SYA policy for refunds which states “registration refund requests are made in full minus an administrative fee (set at $35 for all sports) and is authorized before roster distribution (coaches meeting) or the first regularly scheduled game (whichever comes first)”.
    No fees refunded after that time without Executive Board approval.

Please check on field status if it has rained in the last 48 hours.

Decisions on field status are generally made by 3:30pm each day Monday-Friday and by 7am on Saturday and Sunday.


Field/Gym Status info can be obtained by:

  • Contacting your coach first and foremost
    [Coaches, check your email the night before game days, to determine whether the school fields and gyms have been closed because of inclement weather, etc. and to alert the members of your team.]

FAQs

When do schedules come out?

Where are the games/practices held?

Fairfax County issues permits to SYA to use facilities in the Centreville/Clifton area. Typically a team will practice at the same facility each week with varying locations for weekend games.

When do I get notified about my child’s coach/practices/games?

Notification of schedules/locations/times will be sent out 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the season (as determined by when we receive permits).

How will I be notified?

Mobile app, email, etc.
