Little League Softball Evaluation Information Spring 2025

The player pitch tryouts for softball will take place Sunday, Feb 23 at Patriot Park North as noted below. These will be the only tryouts so if you cannot make this, please reach out to our player agent, Susan Jones. The Age noted below is based on the player’s age on December 31, 2024 – not their current age. Please arrive by the time noted and check in as each group tryout will last about 50-60 minutes.

Any questions please let us know as basic information is provided below the table.

2025 SCHEDULE

Field 2
Age Group Check In Evaluation
Sunday All All 11:30 12:00 – 2:00

ALL SOFTBALL PLAYERS MUST ATTEND THE EVALUATIONS AS NOTED ABOVE. If you cannot make this evaluation, please contact the Player Agent regarding a potential make-up time or if you have questions. If you did not get your email on the details, please let us know also, so we can share the most current information.

Please note all the following information:

  • Dress warm, in layers
  • Bring tennis shoes in addition to your cleats (No metal cleats!)
  • Bring something to drink
  • Bring a bat, glove and a helmet at a minimum
  • Players should run and stretch before they arrive (throw, if possible)

Remind your child to relax and have fun during the evaluations. The coaches aren’t worried about results. They are simply looking at technique, athleticism, attentiveness, and some other things.

Evaluations typically follow a structure similar to the below, so review it with your child to help them feel more comfortable:

  • Check-In and receive number to place on shirt
  • Find the line, get in line (players only)
  • 3 fly balls, throw to second base
  • 3 grounds balls, throw to first
  • 6 hittable pitches, run out last one as a double
  • Pitching/Catching (Catchers – bring your gear)

Again, evaluations are just a part of how we decide where your child should be placed. Our coaches and board members share information from previous seasons to put children in the best possible place to have fun and success.

Patriot Park North – for those who don’t know where this is, it is the facility on Willow Springs School Rd, Fairfax. Please help us keep the facility like new – no gum, seeds, or other sticky candies are allowed at the park. The Snack Shack will be open during this time for warm drinks and the standard fare – we will treat the coaches who are doing evaluations to hamburger/hot dog lunch.

NOTE: We will be evaluating the weather leading up to Feb 23. There is a chance we move this to another date if the weather will not cooperate. We will give 2-3 days notice, if possible, should there be a change.
