The SYA wrestling program participates in the Mason Dixon Wrestling
League which hosts tournaments on Sundays from early December through
February. Weekly tournaments are held at high schools throughout
Northern Virginia for beginner, novice, intermediate and advanced
wrestlers. MDWL supports fair competition and bases all matches on age,
experience, and weight.
The Mason Dixon Wrestling League consists of over 20 clubs from
Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. The league is designed to
provide a competitive wrestling environment for every skill level and
is suitable for wrestlers from ages 6 – 15. The competition schedule
will consist of 8-9 regular season events that take place in the
months of December, January, February (Typically on Sundays). There is
a seeded championship tournament at the end of the season (Late
February/Early March).
The Following are the guidelines for the league, however keep in mind
that small changes could occur before the start of the competition
season (all participating families will be notified of any changes):
1) A wrestlers age is determined by his/her age as of December 31st 2019
2) Age Divisions & Weight Classes
