SYA Mets Travel Fall 2019 Baseball Tryouts

The SYA Mets Travel Baseball tryouts for the Fall 2019 season will take place in mid-June – exact dates are TBD. See Travel Age Groups article for details.  Click here to register now for the tryouts (Coming!). All players must live within the SYA Little League boundaries and will be required to play SYA Little League in the spring in order to be eligible – they do not have to play Little League in the fall. Tryouts will last approximately 1-2 hours depending on how many players show. Be sure players come prepared and bring water. Players only need to attend one of the appropriate sessions, the other would be optional.

Weekend of June 15 – TBD
Week of June 17 – TBD

Head Coaches for each of these teams are in process of being selected for the fall and for the winter/spring season. We are targeting team announcements prior to tryouts.

Travel Age Groups

SYA Travel Baseball is adopting the age ranges being used by Little League Baseball to align our program with the players in SYA Little League, which began with the Fall 2018 8u team.

For the Fall 2019 season, the Mets will only support teams up to 12u. SYA Babe Ruth may be an option for older players.

Composite Bat News

Travel Baseball, depending on the league and tournament, are governed by various ruling bodies. While Little League recently announced it has adopted the USA Baseball Bat Standard, USSSA and AAU – the two popular ruling bodies – have different stances on composite bats. Click on the appropriate ruling body for their stance: USSSA, AAU (look for Bat Info).

For teams playing in NVTBL, they have recently updated their rules to allow any bat valid for Little League or other sanctioned bodies like USSSA or AAU to be used.
