Summer Registration is now open!
SYA is excited to announce registration is open for summer rugby. The competitive summer season provides fast-paced excitement during the summer months as our tackle & tag teams prepare for the Rugby Virginia State Tournament. Click here to register or click here to learn more.
Practices, held twice/week in the evenings (Tue/Thu), start the early June and games will be held Saturday mornings through July 22-23rd. Families are strongly encouraged to finish off Spring sports, attend any summer camps, and schedule summer vacations. We understand the stress of other commitments, do not let time conflicts be the reason not to play rugby.
A fundraiser at Glory Days Grill was held earlier this Spring with families, friends, and coaches from the SYA rugby and football programs coming out in support of both sports in our communities. Check out the video that combines pictures from each weight class in football and each grade level in rugby. Good stuff!
Glory Days Grill is our favorite place for a family-friendly dinner. When you visit, please remember to save your itemized receipts and give to one of your rugby coaches. Each receipt submitted gives 10% of the total bill back to the rugby program!
The video shown is an early draft of just some kids getting together to run some evasion drills. We’re going to put out a series of short videos to help promote the sport. Beyond that, we intend to use these videos emphasize how SYA is making safety a central part of our training, instructing players on the fundamentals of safe tackling techniques and show how much fun it can be in the process.
Thank you Tom Healy for his personal contribution! A long-time supporter of youth sports and former SYA Football Commissioner, we couldn’t have purchased these without his help! We’ll be sharing these with SYA Football in the offseason to let those players enjoy the benefit.
