Here is the information for SYA Little League Opening Day Ceremony, brought to us by Glory Days Grill:

Saturday, April 1
8:45 am – 10 am (arrive no later than 8:30 am)
Westfield HS Gym – Enter Door #11 (If weather is nice, we will move to the ball fields at Cub Run)

Managers, notify your parents exactly where your team will gather to meet for opening day (i.e. basketball courts – preferably somewhere outside and come in as a team). We will sit all teams in VISITOR side bleachers in order by age.  T-Ball and CP in 1 section to left / MP and AA in next section and AAA and Majors in next section. We need to have everyone sitted no later than 8:40 am SHARP. The teams will then be announced with their team banner proudly displayed. While parking is abundant at the school, please pay attention to all signage and don’t park illegally.

Players should wear sneakers only, no cleats. Players should have their uniform shirt, pants, and hat on. You can also leave your gloves, bats, and other baseball gear in the car. Families and all non-players should sit in the HOME stands. Players will still walk around gym and then take a place on the gym floor. Plan on heading out afterwards for your game.

Everyone should park either in front of the school or in the lot area right next to the school where door #11 is. Look for the Westfield HS baseball players to direct you to proper parking locations.

We expect all teams to participate as many of our sponsors will be present and we want this to be an event to celebrate our entire league, the players, and the community. SYA Little League will once again be honoring two outstanding players for their contributions as young citizens to our community. Be sure to congratulate each player as they will be recognized during the activities. We expect to see both the Centreville Wildcats and Westfield Bulldogs high school baseball teams there giving high fives to all the players as they parade around the gym – this always pumps up the oldest and youngest of players.

This continues to get better every year as we will once again be holding a team banner contest and will award team prizes for the winning banners, one for home-made and one for a professionally-made banner.  Each winner will get a prize, generally a team event at a local sponsor – One first place winner will get a free party at Panther Laser Tag with the other being awarded an outing to Pev’s Paintball (We do have some age restrictions on this one unfortunately). Please get with your Team Parent to make sure that your team banner is ready to go for opening day.  This is usually a 4’ x 3’ banner made of felt like material that mom’s or other team parents create with their team sponsor and players names on it. Players need to be able to carry the banner!

We have outstanding prizes to give away include a half season ticket package to the Potomac Nationals and free Peterson’s Ice Cream up until November. The $5 tickets (3 for $10) are available from your team manager or can be purchased the morning of the Opening Ceremony – look for the guy/gal carrying a big jar. Current prize list:
